Building the Perfect Mini-League: Tips for Organisers
Mini-leagues are the heart and soul of ScoreGame. There's nothing quite like the banter of a group chat when your mate's 'easy 3-0' prediction turns into a 0-1 upset. Here's how to make your league the best it can be.
Get the Right Number
The sweet spot is 8-15 players. Fewer than that and there isn't enough competition. More and people start to feel anonymous. If you have 20+ interested, consider splitting into two leagues with a playoff at the end of the season.
Set Expectations Early
The biggest killer of mini-leagues is people forgetting to predict. Set a group norm from the start - maybe a reminder message every Friday, or a forfeit for anyone who misses three gameweeks in a row. Nothing too serious, but enough to keep everyone engaged.
Create Monthly Prizes
Season-long leagues can feel like a marathon. Break it up with monthly prizes - best predictor of the month gets to choose the group chat name, or the worst predictor has to post an embarrassing childhood photo. Small stakes, big engagement.
Use the Group Chat
Share screenshots of bold predictions. Call out the leaders when they slip up. Celebrate the underdogs when they surge. The social element is what separates a great mini-league from one that fizzles out by November.
